Bizee used to be Incfile and plenty of owners still call it that. Form an LLC through them and registered agent service is included at no charge for three to twelve months, depending on the package.

Take it. Genuinely. If Bizee is doing your formation filing anyway, those months are free money and no page selling a competing service should tell you otherwise. This one is about what happens when the clock runs out.

The Number Waiting on the Other Side Is $149

Standalone Bizee agent service is $149 a year. Published, not hidden, no argument there.

The problem is not the price. It is that free things do not send a farewell note. You bought a formation package on some Tuesday months ago, and the anniversary of that Tuesday is when the billing starts. Nobody has that date memorized. Put it in a calendar now, whatever you end up deciding.

Door Three, and Who It Is Actually For

Most comparison pages skip this. South Dakota gives you a third way to fill the agent line, and it costs nothing.

Your LLC still cannot write its own name there. What it can write is a position: office manager, chief manager, whatever you call the role internally. Service of process then goes to whoever is holding that role the day a deputy walks in. The line names a rank, not a person, so a resignation does not force a new filing.

Now the requirement behind it. That designation still has to carry a real South Dakota street address, or a rural route box, and it gets published in the state business search where anyone can read it. A PO box by itself is rejected. Somebody has to be standing behind that address through business hours.

Read that twice if you run your South Dakota LLC from Phoenix or Minneapolis. There is no rank to name, because the rank would need a South Dakota doorway and you do not have one. That is not a sales point, it is the reason this state's filing scene, heavy with owners who have never driven through it, runs on agents in the first place. If you have a shop in Sioux Falls with a person at the counter all day, door three is real and it is free, and we would rather you heard that from us.

The Filing That Changes the Line

One statement of change, filed with the South Dakota Secretary of State, $10 online or $25 by mail, no form number because this state names its forms instead of numbering them. Steps, fields, and the record check are all on our change of agent page.

The scheduling rule fits in a sentence and it is the one people get wrong: get the new agent appointed before you let the old arrangement die. The state expects that field occupied continuously, and a lapsed provider sitting on your record while nobody watches the address is the worst possible week for a lawsuit to show up.
