Four Charges of $149 Do Not Add Up to $149. In South Dakota They Add Up to Six Years of Us.
A clean South Dakota registered agent setup for $99 per year. You get the office address on file, scanned legal mail, and compliance reminders ahead of state deadlines.
Whose page is this? South Dakota Registered Agent.co's, and we sell the $99 alternative described at the bottom of it. Every Swyft Filings figure below is Swyft's own published pricing as of July 2026.
What They Do Well
Swyft Filings runs formation work efficiently. Clean intake, packages explained in plain language, a process smoothed down by volume. Somebody starting a first company can get an entity organized through them without learning what any of the documents are called.
No complaint about the filing service. The complaint is one word long and it is about the agent price.
Read the Billing Interval Before the Number
$149 is the advertised registered agent figure. Quarterly.
Four times a year. Roughly $596 annualized, which our July 2026 check put at the highest effective yearly cost among the services we priced for South Dakota, with no opening discount attached.
Nothing about that is concealed and the interval is stated where you can find it. What quarterly billing does is make one large number feel like four small ones. $149 reads as reasonable. $596 reads as a lot. They are the same amount of money leaving the same bank account.

South Dakota's Zero-Dollar Route, and Who It Excludes
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereWorth mentioning because it is true and nobody selling agent service brings it up.
South Dakota will accept a job title on the agent line instead of a name. Designate a position inside your company and process goes to whoever holds that position when it arrives. The state charges nothing for the arrangement.
The catch is physical, not legal. That designation still needs an actual South Dakota street address, or a rural route box, published on your record, with a person there through business hours. Which is precisely what an owner running the LLC from another state does not have. A PO box on its own gets rejected, so a mail drop will not close the gap either.
For a business with real premises in South Dakota, the free route is genuinely available and we would rather tell you than let a competitor look more honest than us. For everybody else it is a rule describing a door in a wall they are not standing next to, and it is a fair part of why so much of this state's filing activity runs through commercial agents in the first place.
Getting Off the Quarterly Cycle in South Dakota
One statement of change to the South Dakota Secretary of State. Ten dollars filed online, twenty five in the mail. No form number exists here; South Dakota titles its business forms and leaves the numbering alone. Swyft signs nothing. Full steps on our change of agent page.
One timing note before you go: get us appointed while Swyft is still on the record, not after. South Dakota expects that field filled continuously, filings take days to process, and the days between cancelling and posting are days your company has no live agent watching an address that is still printed on a public record. Overlapping costs nothing at all.
What $99 Covers
- Our South Dakota street address on your filings, keeping yours off the state's business search
- We scan service of process on the day of service, no queue, with an email attached
- Secretary of State mail moved the same way
- Annual report reminders before your filing month shuts
- $99 at signup, $99 at renewal, no setup fee, no tier above it
One more line item, better learned here than on an invoice: routine business mail, meaning anything other than legal process, is $15 each to scan. Nothing beyond that.
Two prices, same statutory duty, and about $497 a year between them. Do the multiplication before you renew, not after.
