Year One Costs $99. Year Two Costs $199. South Dakota Does Not Care Which Year You Are In.
A clean South Dakota registered agent setup for $99 per year. You get the office address on file, scanned legal mail, and compliance reminders ahead of state deadlines.
Our page, our product, our bias. South Dakota Registered Agent.co sells the $99 service this page recommends. The ZenBusiness numbers are ZenBusiness's own, pulled from their published pages in July 2026 and left alone.
Their Software Is Good
Say the true thing first. ZenBusiness built a clean, modern platform. Documents, filings, and reminders all live in one place and the thing works the way an app should work. First-time owners get through it without calling anybody. That is worth money to some people, and if you want a compliance dashboard with an agent bundled inside it, they are a reasonable place to buy one.
We do not sell a dashboard. We sell one line on your state record and we keep it filled.
Two Numbers. You Will Live Under the Second.
Standalone registered agent service from ZenBusiness: $99 plus state fees for the first twelve months. $199 for each renewal after that.
Both are published. Neither is a secret. The trick your brain plays is treating the first number as the price, when the first number applies to one year of a filing obligation that lasts as long as the company does. Sign up once. Renew forever. Budget for the number you will see most often.
| ZenBusiness standalone | South Dakota Registered Agent.co | |

Cheapest? No. BetterLegal prints $90. We are in that neighborhood, not at the front of it.
The Line Cannot Go Empty
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereWorth knowing what South Dakota does when the agent field stops being maintained, because it is not a warning letter and a shrug.
Your annual report is due in your anniversary month. Miss the last day of it and you are delinquent on the first of the next one, with $50 added. Stay there and the Secretary of State ends the company administratively, SDCL 47-34A-809 being the authority for it, usually somewhere around the two-month mark. Two months is not a long fuse. And the notices warning you about all of it get mailed to your registered agent, which is a decent argument for having an agent who is actually reading the mail.
The report is $55 online, $70 on paper. We remind you before the month closes. Filing it stays yours; the annual report walkthrough has the steps.
Moving Your Record Off ZenBusiness
Here is the whole procedure.
South Dakota uses a statement of change, one document that updates the registered office, the registered agent, or both together. No form number. This state names its business forms instead of numbering them, so ignore anybody handing you a code.
Fee: $10 e-filed. $25 if you mail it, because South Dakota tacks a $15 charge onto paper submissions. That surcharge is the reason the state's downloadable version carries $25 across the top while the statute underneath still says ten.
Filed with: the South Dakota Secretary of State.
Signatures: yours. ZenBusiness does not sign, does not approve, and is not consulted.
Steps: enroll with us, fill in the entity name and our South Dakota street address, submit and pay, then check your record once processing clears.
And the rule that governs the order: appoint before you cancel. Every day your entity is registered is a day South Dakota expects a live agent on file. Kill the ZenBusiness subscription first and the state still shows them as your agent while nobody is being paid to watch that address. Overlap is free. A gap is not.
$99, Then $99
- Our South Dakota street address on the public record instead of yours
- Served today, scanned today, in your inbox today
- Secretary of State mail treated the same way
- Every document we have ever received for you, still in the portal
- No setup fee, no tier above this one, no discount waiting to expire
If your ZenBusiness renewal is coming up, that date is the cheapest possible moment to make this move. A week later is the most expensive one.
